Hi, thanks for looking at my website. My name is Ann Marie.

I am originally from the North West of England. In the year 2000 I came with my partner, Marc, to Australia. We had our son, Ryan, one year later and he is now 10. My professional background before Ryan came along has always been in retail and hospitality. I switched to child care through attending the Fitness First gym and leaving Ryan in their Junior Care. In 2003 I started work in Junior Care myself as a Junior Care Assistant and enjoyed it so much that I decided to get qualified. In December 2005 received my Tafe Certificate III with Distinction. I decided to further my qualifications with a Diploma and received this in 2006. During my training at Tafe, I became aware of Family Day Care and in October 2006 opened up Ann’s Place. It is a demanding and responsible position to be in, but very rewarding. The age group I look after is from 0 to 3 years and I feel privileged to be a part of their life and assist them with their emerging skills

Philosophy & Aims

Philosophy & Aims

I believe that:

• Every child is an individual who develops at their own rate and should be accepted as a person in their own right

• Children learn through play and “constructive error”

• Children learn through positive interactions with others and first hand experiences experimenting with materials

• Play should be at the heart of our daily routine which reflects the interests and experiences of the children

• I have a commitment to facilitate and foster a warm and accepting relationship with all individuals and families regardless of family structure, ethnic and cultural background

• Child Care is a co-operative task between a provider and family and aims to provide for the child’s needs in an environment of comfort and trust

I aim to:

• Provide a secure, comfortable and interactive environment complementing the home family environment as much as possible and show respect for children’s needs and ideas, and talk with them in caring ways

• Extend children’s current knowledge and abilities

• Ensure children have opportunities and guidance to build a positive self-concept, good self-esteem and feeling of personal worth
